Malta, officially known as the “Republic of Malta” is a Southern European island country in the Mediterranean Sea. It lies south of Italy, east of Tunisia, and north of Libya. With a population of about 515,000 over an area of 316 km, Malta is the world's tenth smallest country in the area. Its capital is Valletta, which is the smallest national capital in the European Union. It has been a member state of the Commonwealth of Nations and the United Nations since independence, and joined the European Union in 2004; it became part of the Eurozone monetary union in 2008.

Tourist Visa
1) Visa application form: to be filled out in English.
2) Valid Passport - It must be valid for at least another six (6) months starting from the day traveler depart from Malta (Current passport and old passports)
3) Two photographs (white background, without border).
4) Travel health insurance.
5) Proof of residence for nationals: a photocopy of the stay permit.
6) Cover letter: explaining the purpose of the trip with itinerary detailed location(s) and duration of stay.
7) Transportation return travel air ticket.
8) Proof of the purpose of stay in Malta:
a) Proof of Hotel Booking Payment.
b) Certificate of a paid tourist package.
c) Day-to-day itinerary with ensured accommodation for the entire stay.
d) Complete Malta telephone contact and address for all accommodations.
Kindly note that the applications for Malta tourist visas for tourist visits are processed as per the actual plan of travel and stay. Any change in the travel plan, cancellation/change of accommodations, etc. after submission of the application will lead to delay in the processing of the application. Similar changes after issuance of visa (if approved) for the Republic of Malta might lead to revocation of visa.
9) Proof of sufficient funds: Traveler must be able to prove that traveler can sustain financially for the duration of trip:
a) Six (6) months bank statement (saving and current a/c, as applicable).
b) Copy of international credit card with six (6) months credit card statement.
c) Endorsement on passport/receipt of purchase of foreign exchange.
10) Proof of current social and professional status:
Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate of children’s, etc.
a) Service – Letter issued by the employer on company’s official letterhead establishing position of the employee in the company, years in service, grant of leave, last six (6) months salary slip, ID card, visiting card.
b) Business/self-employed – Visa request letter on official letterhead with company registration papers, etc.
c) Student – Letter from school/university for grant of leave and copy of the valid ID.
Please note that you may be required to come for a personal interview with the visa officer at the Embassy of the Republic of Malta prior to a decision being made on your application.
The documents attached shall not be older than three (3) months.
The Embassy of Malta may require you to submit additional supporting documents and/or certified translation as well as the international certification (apostille) of the documents during the visa application process.
Work Visa
Documents Required:
1) Visa application form to be filled out in English.
2) Valid Passport - minimum of three months, Clear Photocopy of front and last page and used pages (Current passport and old passports).
3) Two photographs (white background, without border).
4) Travel health insurance. The insurance must be valid for 30 days from the date of travel.
5) Cover letter: explaining the purpose of the trip with itinerary detailed location(s) and duration of stay in Malta.
6) Confirmed departure flight reservation - one way ( ticket should be valid for 15 days from the date of submission).
7) Copy of work permit.
8) Visa fee.
Business Visa
Documents Required:
1) Visa application form: to be filled out in English.
2) Valid Passport - It must be valid for at least another six (6) months starting from the day traveler depart from Malta.
3) Two photographs: (white background, without border).
4) Travel health insurance.
5) Proof of residence for nationals: a photocopy of the stay permit.
6) Cover letter: explaining the purpose of the trip with itinerary detailed location(s) and duration of stay in Malta.
7) Means of transportation return travel tickets for airplanes.
8) Proof of the purpose of stay in Malta:
a) Proof of Hotel Booking Payment.
b) Certificate of a paid tourist package.
c) Day-to-day itinerary with ensured accommodation for the entire stay.
d) Complete Malta telephone contact and address for all accommodations.
9) Letter of Guarantee by Legal Person: in original or copy if the original is deposited at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in Malta; with the Letter of Guarantee, the guarantor shall enclose proof of solvency (BON 1 or BON 2 Forms, or a confirmation of the Commercial Court that it is not in liquidation, etc.); the applicant shall be handed a photocopy of the Letter of Guarantee.
10) Documents proving sufficient funds to support the stay in Malta and to return to the state of residence or to travel to a third state.
Exceptionally, if the Letter of Guarantee/Invitation Letter indicates the guarantor is fully accepting all the expenses related to visiting and departing from Malta, the applicant can be exempt from the requirement to present the proof of sufficient funds.
The supporting documents may include:
a) Six (6) months bank statement (saving and current a/c, as applicable),
b) Three years Income Tax returns (personal and company, as applicable),
c) Copy of international credit card with three months credit card statement and
d) Endorsement on passport/receipt of purchase of foreign exchange
Proof of current social and professional status:
a) Service – Letter issued by the employer on company’s official letterhead establishing position of the employee in the company, years in service, grant of leave and salary certificate of the last three (3) months
b) Business/self-employed – Visa request letter on official letterhead with company registration papers.
Accommodation: hotel booking, private or other accommodation, real estate title deed or lease, proof of ownership or lease of a boat, etc. Accommodation can be provided by the guarantor or the inviting party if so indicated in the Letter of Guarantee or the Letter of Invitation.
Proof of sufficient Funds:
Three months bank statements (savings and current a/c, as applicable) in Original – duly signed and stamped by an authorized official of the respective bank.
